The Bradley County Medical Center Board was told during the October 27th monthly board meeting that the hospital had a good month in September and is in decent shape financially for the year. CFO Brandon Gorman informed the board that the financial statement for September, 2016 shows total revenue of $1,700,490.84 and expenditures of $1,576,382.47. The hospital is up over $895,000.00 for the year to date.
In other business, the board re-approved Dr. Dennis Jacks and Dr. Joe Wharton as members of the hospital medical staff. All health professional who provide services through BCMC must be approved from time to time.
CEO Rex Jones reported that the Bradley County Home Health Agency has received an award for superior patient satisfaction. They were recognized as a Top 25% Awardee from across the nation.
Mr. Jones also reported on efforts to increase the number of nurses available in southeast Arkansas.
He told the board all offices have been relocated form the Delta building across the street from the hospital and the old building is ready for demolition.
Mr. Jones informed the board that Armstrong Flooring has contributed $1500.00 to the Hospital foundation and work is ongoing to hire anew director of radiology. He went on to state the hospital is seeking a new director of human resources due to a vacancy.
The Administrator informed the board that he has been awarded the "Hospital Administrator of the Year" award for hospitals under 100 beds. The ward came from the Arkansas Hospital Auxiliary Association. Mr. Jones stated it was an honor to be so designated.
CNO Tiffany Holland gave a comprehensive report on the nursing staff and activities within her jurisdiction. She updated the board on the upcoming health fair and efforts to encourage more students to go into nursing and other health related fields, especially in south Arkansas.
Ms. Holland has passed the Arkansas Organization of Nurse Executives & American Association of Critical Care Nurses Certified Nurse Manager & Leader Credentialing exam. To pass the exam requires a blend of work experience and education. Only 18% of those eligible pass the test.
She was commended by the board.
Mr. Jones then provide an update on plans to construct a new doctors clinic. He said that Dr. Biggers is being consulted as work proceeds to get construction underway.
Board Chairman Freddie Mobley told the members that efforts are moving full steam ahead to locate and hire a new CEO. The board later went into executive session to review applications that have been submitted. He stated that more are coming and plans are to narrow the choice to three and make a final decision.
Earlier in the meeting the board selected Kristi Clanton as a new member of the hospital board.
