Master Gardener Training Planned

The Cooperative Extension Service is planning upcoming Master Gardener Training.  Training includes five full days of education, and consists of topics such as soils, insects, diseases, vegetables, ornamentals, tree, bees, landscaping, and much more.  Training dates are as follows:  February 23, March 2, 9, 16, and 23.

The Master Gardener program is recognized as the top educational venue for those interested in gardening and landscaping.  The program first began in Arkansas in 1988, and has since grown to over 3,000 trained Master Gardener volunteers in sixty-seven counties.

The Drew County Master Gardener group currently consist of twenty-seven trained volunteers.  Monthly educational meetings are conducted, and the group sponsors several beautification projects in the county.

Cost for training is $75 which covers all educational materials.

Those interested in training should contact the Drew County Extension office at 870-460-6270 or contact Steve Kelley by email at skelley@uaex.edu.  An informal interview will be set up to further explain the program.
